Need assistance with the Memory Upgrade of my HP 2000z Laptop.
Thanx

Reply by Admin:
The Hewlett Packard 2000z Laptop accepts the DDR3 PC3-8500 10600 SDRAM SODIMM 204 pin RAM Type. It comes installed with 4GB (Removable) of Memory. HP 2000z can be upgraded up to maximum of 8GB Memory, the system has 2 memory Sockets/ slots(2 banks of 1) to install Memory, already with 4GB (Removable) standard Memory installed.
Thank You

Subject: Dell Dimension 4600 Memory Ram Upgrade

Hi there, I wanted to add some more memory RAM to upgrade my Dell Dimension 4600. I thought of getting 2GB all up. Would this mean that I would have to throw out the 512MB that is already in there and buy 2 separate 1GB's memory modules? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Reply by Admin:
If your machine has a total of 4 memory expansion slots, you can simply keep the existing memory modules, and install new 1GB memory ram modules in to the next 2 available memory slots. Just buy two 1GB ram modules and install them in the first two memory slots and install the other existing modules in slots 3 and 4. If you have only 2 memory slots available for installation, then you will have to remove the existing memory modules already there, and install two 1GB memory modules. The dell dimension 4600 specifications shows that it has total of 4 memory slots available for installing memory modules.

Subject: compatible ram for laptop

my dell laptop ram recently broke down and this will be the 1st time i upgrade ram on my own of my laptop. i just want to make sure that what i buy is compatible and will work in my laptop.

current memory -2 sticks
capacity- 2gb
type- ddr3 (pc3-10666)
speed- 1333mhz (ddr3 1333)

this information was based off of system information for windows tool.

from dell this is what i got-
MOD,DIMM,4GB,1333MHZ, DDR3, 2x 2GB
Dual In-Line Memory Module, 2GB1333MHZ, 256X64, 8K, 200

what i found and am looking to buy is mentioned below:
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/ValueRAM+-+2GB+PC3-10666+DDR3+SoDIMM+Laptop+Memory/9663622.p?id=1218142382382&skuId=9663622&st=laptop%20ram%201333&cp=1&lp=3

so, is what i m looking to buy going to be compatible with my laptop?

By Admin:
Which Dell Laptop Model you have? if you mention your dell laptop model, we can find the exact memory specs with that. Thanks

Subject: upgrading memory

I have a Dell Inspirion 530 with 3GB RAM. It is broken down as 2 - 1 GB sticks and 2 - 512 sticks. I purchased 2 more 1 GB memory sticks and removed the 2 - 512 memory sticks. Now I have 4GB RAM. When I look at my system properties it says I have 4GB RAM but only 3.25 usable. I never noticed what it was earlier. I noticed after i installed the new RAM. Is the 3 quarters missing being used by the operating system? I am running Window 7 32-bit

By Admin:
This is pretty common thing that windows will only report 3.5 GB of RAM when 4GB is installed, the other memory address space is used by the OS, by using a 64Bit version of the OS will be able to use more than 4GB.

@William
Dell XPS 730 desktop computer accepts memory types: DDR3-1066, PC3-8500, 240PIN, NON-ECC, NON-REGISTERED, DDR3 DIMM AND DDR3-1333, PC3-10666, 240PIN, NON-ECC, NON-REGISTERED, DDR3 DIMM. You can buy any one type of the two because both types are compatible. I will recommend you not to mix two types.
